Fr David Jones O. Praem on Friday 15th August 2008, the Feast of the Assumption, launched his new book of poetry entitled 'In Perpetuum' at the Parochial Centre, Duleek, Co. Meath.
Attended by a large crowd and hosted by Duleek Parish Priest, Fr Conlon, the event was a very enjoyable affair- and enlightening to boot. Those in attendance heard Fr David Jones read out a number of his poems and give a discourse on the importance and the compatibility of the monastic vocation with the creation of poetry.
Some of the listeners received a reminder of a Shakespearean sonnet and what constituted an iambic pentameter.
The introduction by journalist and author Hermann Kelly stressed the wealth and influence of early Irish monastic poetry and as well as the encouragement of a Catholic culture for the written word and artistic endevour in general.
Fr David concluded the night with a display of his previous publications and word of thanks to those who came and asked questions about his life and poetic subjects.
